Finding the Training Programs and Methods that are right for you.

We specialize in Personal Training Plans for masters athletes, mainly in cross-country skiing, but also for cycling, mountain climbing, running, triathlon and other power-endurance sports.  Please check the tab “About Our Training” on this web page to see a bit more about the elements included in our programs, and keep in mind that all plans are tailored to the individual users needs, experience, location and personal goals.  We have extensive experience in training the mature body and we enjoy joining athletes in attaining personal goals as much as creating champions. 

 

Rates for Training Services are outlined below.  The standard* Personal Training Plan contains the following:  

  

·         Initial Assessment to define your Personal Goals and Needs as well as your Experience and Special Considerations pertaining to exercise and training.

·         A monthly or otherwise periodic, personalized training plan.  The plan will be in writing and transmitted by email or other practical communication.    

·         The plan will deal with personal recommendations for you, be progressive, and based on experience and feedback pertaining to that plan.  (Plans, recommendations, programs, suggestions, comments, etc., by others are not included in this plan.  If you desire to incorporate outside services, these items need to be discussed).

·         Communication phone/email, etc., regarding items above, normally once or twice per month.

·         The coach/athlete association is a professional relationship. 

·         You will be billed monthly with your program.  Additional services, including Testing and Hands-on training and other services will be billed on a case-by-case basis per discussion.

·         The Training Plan will contain: 

  • Weekly summary or day-by-day schedule of the different training components; you decide which option is best for you and your situation.   
  • Specified activities, intensities and loads for the workouts.
  • Description of specificity in activities.
  • Periodization with progressive development and recovery cycles throughout the athletic year or season.
  • Program Cycles incorporating upcoming and future events (races/tours/trips); with volume, intensity and recovery periods pertaining to peaking, super-compensation and recovery for these events. 
  • Review and feedback of personal progress. 
  • Alternative training dealing with off-season, climate, physical limitations/injury, location, geography and other issues pertaining to your needs and situation.

More than anything else, our plans aim to help you attain your personal athletic goals by creating programs that suit you and your lifestyle.

 

*   Standard Personal Training Plans are hardly ever “standard,” but personal and individual.  The term “standard” is used for a reasonable scope of service and working relationship.  Find the best option for your needs by contacting jonengen@cox.net

Rates for Personal Training Services

The basic Monthly Training Program includes:

Written, detailed personal activity program outlined per week or day-to-day per preference w/training methods, etc., explained.  Up to one half hour of personal communication and feedback associated with the program.  Additional communication time will be billed at rates herein. 

 

Hands-on Training  instruction, filming, testing, etc. - excl. skiing

/long hour session (1:15 +hrs. active)  ....................................................................................................... $100.00

Personal Motion/Technique Video Production

Editing; slow-motion, still and frame analysis, DVD production.

One technique, free or classical technique - max four (4) scenes/person ............................................ $120.00

Two techniques - max eight (8) scenes/person ............ ........................................................................... $200.00

 

Testing

Generally billed as hands-on training rates, extensive reports and analysis at consultation rates.  Test equipment is billed at cost.

Standard Lactate Balance Test .................................................................................................................. $220.00

This in-house test protocol, to determine blood lactate response and corresponding training intensities, includes collection and analysis of five (5) in-the-field blood samples a report explaining the findings and recommended training intensities. 

 

On-snow Ski Training & Instruction

Our active on-snow ski training is done at the Sun Valley Nordic Center under the auspices of the Nordic Center and Sun Valley Ski School (SVCO).  SVCO rates are posted at sunvalley.com.  Services not provided within the SVCO programs are subject to rates expressed herein.

 

Custom/Private Programs, Camps & Groups

Personal and group training programs and camps containing a variety of services are designed on a case by case basis.  Please contact me for details. 

 

All rates include mobilization within the Wood River Valley, Blaine Co., Idaho.  I am happy to provide cost proposals for work outside the area.
